In response to the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee demanding they censor more content, the devs for the mobage Blue Archive have decided to raise the game's age rating instead. In addition, this will give them the opportunity to go back and uncensor Aris/Alice for the global release.

indeed. hope this paves the way for more devs to do the same if they are not already

a lot of this kinda thing would be solved if devs stopped giving a fuck about age ratings and made what they want to make and if needed make a separate cutdown version for app stores or pussys who can't handle the anime boobie and cunny

but yea blue cunny bros be winning today

Okay but please don't support gacha shit. Just download the jpegs somewhere else.
Seriously this.
I'm glad it'll be uncensored, should've been this way in the first place, no idea why corpos are so afraid of a higher age rating.
Still not going to play or give a shit about it though, if I want cunny, I'll generate some with AI rather than play a glorified slot machine.

I gotta say the positive reactions to this news on twitter are really pissing me off. It's like if a heavily censored game fixed a game breaking bug and suddenly everyone starting praising them and talking about "winning" without even addressing the censorship elephant in the room.

Why do people have such a blind spot for gacha? The gaming community was pissed when Bethesda wanted to sell horse armor for $5, but now they are making you gamble your life savings away for the horse armor and nobody bats an eye.

They are afraid of a higher rating because less visibility in the app store = less $$$.

The Aris thing blew up way more than anyone expected. I played the JP version at release and nobody even said a peep about that CG because it's NOT supposed to be seen in a sexualized way. It speak volumes about how some western tards saw a naked sleeping girl and the only thing that comes to mind is SEX SEX SEX. Pure projection.

To put it into perspective, the censorship concern a CG where a robot looking like a little girl sat sleeping naked on a chair in the middle of a flower garden. A normal person playing the game is supposed to think it's surreal, because we just infiltrated an abandoned underground facility. She looked special and very out of place. The game character is also named Aris "Tendou" = Angelic Child/Cherub. You know, those naked little angels all over religious paintings? I know it went over people's head because GL version but it's just more proof you are supposed to look at her as an innocent child. And if anyone find naked children sexualizing then there's something wrong with THEM lol. How do they expect anyone to raise children with that attitude?

The scene reminded me of the fifth element (movie) when the main heroin was reconstructed. She also lies there sleeping naked. Everyone's in awe and the scientist called her the perfect being (not in a sexualized way). Not saying no one can find both scenes titillating but the scene itself is supposed to be artistic/surreal/shocking. If the game CG is bad then Hollywood is worse because they have been pulling this shit with real people for decades. (The actress in that movie looked like a loli as well)

While I agree that it should have never have happened in the first place I think is not bad to at least be a little happy about it. I mean when was the last time things got uncesored. Its usually the opposite sadly.

As for gacha personally I dont care for it but it seems to be the way the industry is going. I mean your horse armor example was years ago. Nowadays everyone seems to be ok with that stuff. Just look how many games come with day 1 dlc and no one bats an eye. Not saying its a good thing tho.

At the end of the day its not my money so idgaf

Gacha and Vtubers going mainstream have destroyed a lot of weebs brains. or maybe it's the infiltration of tourists and normalfags who hop on these trends.
I really don't know man, but it hurts to see people be so... just... stupid I guess. :gura-pain:

Yeah I just wish it was the good stuff that was uncensored. These companies obviously know that sex sells, but for some reason they only focus on selling the sexy stuff to gambling addicts. If gacha wasn't such easy money then maybe they would focus on making good sexy games again.

I personly think people should not let their own personal REEEEEEEEEing about gacha get in the way of taking a W that's clearly a W

the devs could have just told everyone to fuck off and bent the knee to the government. they even pointed out in there statement that was the easy way out for them. but instead, most likely due to the massive feedback they got the first time. they chose to uphold their artistic integrity and not only find a solution to the problem that will allow them to keep making what they want to make. but also retroactively fix the censorship that was already in place.

this is unprecedented and something WE SHOULD BE CELEBRATING. but instead, I come in here and see some of you faggots sulking cuz "waaaaaa gatch bad. waaaaa they still censored shit in the past WE CAN NEVER FORGIVE THEM REEEEE"

this mindset is fucken retarded. im not saying you have to go out and support them by tossing money into their slot machine. but at the very least you can admit the devs did something we have been trying to get other devs to do FOR YEARS and at least congratulate and promote them as a positive example. they did something that is a move in the right direction and that should be recognised

and yea. they did censor that CG. yea it was fucken bad and we all called them out on it and they got ass-blasted. it also most likely cost them a lot of the player base. we should not forget this. but at the same time if they are in fact moving in the direction we want to see everyone else move in we have to be willing to forgive. never forget, but forgive

as if we dont positively reinforce devs and artists that make the moves we want to make nothing is going to change as they are not going to see that people like us do in fact exist who want them to not censor their works. positive reinforcement is a hell of a thing if used correctly

so yea. im prob not gonna pick the game up. got enough of these games fueling my drug addiction. but im at least not gonna be a dumb fuck retarded faggot about it

And using it on gacha devs is using it incorrectly. They shouldn't exist in the first place and are completely indefensible.

Save your positive reinforcement for when they give up both censorship and the gacha model, that would actually be a win.

I mean the problem is that making good sexy games is risky, I mean whenever a game where a woman is not some roided out monster or covered from head to toe, people are already screeching about it, add it being an anime game where steam and other platforms might just decide to ban you for no reason and then its understandable why making games like that might not seem worth it to devs and publishers.

Now there are some still people that try. Little witch nobeta is a good example even if it is relatively mild by our admitedly skewed standards :ohohoh:. It still a good idea to support them.

The sad truth is that until the collective decides to end their puritanical streak. Big companies will gravitate towards the less risky choice.

Now, the best thing to do if you want to see more non gacha sexy games is to show that there is a market.

It's weird to me that gacha can get away with it though, since they have to go through Google/Apple which don't seem like they would be any more accepting than Steam/Nintendo.

Fagalizers always huff their own farts, failed writers who think they're the next Shakespeare but no one gives a shit of their subpar writing so will always vandalize a superior writers work.
Anyone that supports this gets the rope, no sympathy for enablers of art vandalism.

We can't afford to be picky with our victories. Take them as they come while we build new media to replace the old.
This, straight up. It's okay to completely hate Gacha and their mechanics, but what you do have to realize is that this is the devs, and by extention Nexon, recognizing that people who like more risque content are a geniune market force. Gacha is a low investment and high profit market, I'd go as far as to say that it's the only market in publishers would bother to take a risk in the first place and create two seperate clients to keep updated. I won't even say 'just don't throw money at it' in this situation, if you play Blue Archive and can afford to do so, then you absolutely should consider tossing like five dollars for a gacha roll or a skin or whatever. Whether you like it or not, this is where we can make our stand. This is our foothold. And if they see a positive return on this, they will take notice, as will other heads in the industry.

We don't have a direct line to the ears of companies, so when the localizer crowd suggests that they tone things down during the development cycle in order to appeal to an 'international audience' they tend to trust them on face value; theirs is the only voice they're hearing, after all. But we do have a line on their bank accounts, and that speaks volumes louder. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, take the ball and run with it.

I know that lolicons love to whine, but this is simply self-destructive.

Not like i don't understand the sentiment but the Gacha model exists for a reason. There is a BIG market for it (and it's printing money).

I'm talking about people who don't have the time to play normal games due to a myriad of reason. Their only choice is basically: playing a Gacha (5 mins per session) or no gaming at all. These people literally can't play >40 hrs games because of time constraint or age (No, seriously), yet they have deep pockets to spend on entertainment. Gacha fulfill the needs for both those consumers and the developers. You may think it's dumb but you don't get to decide what people like to spend their money on. Hell, i think selfie sticks are the dumbest shit ever but they sold like gangbuster awhile back.

No one's holding a gun to people's head and force them to play gachas. If there's no better solution for those people then nothing's gonna change.

What's self-destructive is supporting a bad thing and hoping for a good result. Gacha is a cancerous bundle of always-online DRM, microtransactions, games as a service, and psychological manipulation. You know, things we used to fight against until they dangled some anime jpegs in front of you and you took it hook, line, and sinker.

It is not a win for a game that should not be supported in the first place to rid itself of 1% of its flaws. See my earlier analogy about a censored game being patched if you still don't understand. Or if you want another example imagine a game with non-binary/pronoun stuff being uncensored. The pronouns should already be a deal breaker whether the game is censored or not.
