I will preface this and say usually i am not interested in middle age fantasies with the exception of Berserk, but i did play Dragon's Dogma 1 and although i could not finish because it was just faulty game design. It had a lot of promise with me being able to make my own loli characters and even a weirdly tall muscular amazon, the Pawn system is such a cool and innovative one. Dragon's Dogma II is announced and you hear so much how it's going to add in the missing content from Dragon's Dogma I, be a revamp of the MMO gameplay and even hints at smaller characters, Itsuno was willing to put himself out there for it, the same guy that saved DMC with DMC3, the guy who came back for DMCV and did an excellent job. I felt hyped and even preordered on Steam which is rare of me to do. Now the Character Creation tool releases 2 weeks before the game is out, it is severely gimped, you can not create any character below 5'3(162cm) and on top of that as one user mentions on RPGCodex(page 95 on the Dragon's Dogma II JRPG Weaboo Section)

Although i disagree slightly because whenever we seem to get ANY mods on Gamebanana or even NexusMods they take it down, and users sadly do not realize to come here and host their mods or put it on a site. They are correct in that it is severely limited and it feels like an ideological thing than Capcom trying to do their reselling the DLC. There is also proof that this was intentionally gimped because when Slider edit mods came out. The height and boob size minimums were completely artificial Someone handicapped the character creator. These are just two images.

The thing is this is a downgrade from DD1 a severe one, and even if Capcom sells in the height slider and the boob slider, it will just show Capcom has circled back into the Greed again when it comes to the West just like 10 years ago, and thinks they have it in the bag. I would advise everyone to cancel their preorders and if people truly do wish to play it, then wait for it on a huge sale and until everything is out. Do not pay full price and try not to pay money for this game as a whole.

P.S Beware if people try to use the culture war in order to promote the game to own the left, or if the game is very progressive for being trans friendly. They are trying to fool people into purchasing the game and line the pockets with the lowest denominator nowadays.

Yeah I have no interest in DD2 despite loving the first game because I knew modern Capcom would fuck it up. I just hope other people have enough principles not to support this (fat chance).

I know what you mean, it's just people who will need to get burned and learn their lesson because they let their inner fanboy convince them the game is going to be great because the game they played before was good. But the writing is on the wall. I have zero hopes for Pragmata, and i do have an awful feeling about Resident Evil 5 which is my favorite in the series.

The character creator seems both good and terrible at the same time. On the one hand, some of the replicas I've seen made were pretty impressive in how they resemble the original. On the other hand, there's a noticeable ugliness to the characters, and particularly the female characters. When making a female character, most players tend to pick one particular face preset -- number 23. Out of all 45 faces, only one of them makes it easy to have a female that doesn't look like an abomination. That is without getting into the limited hair styles, the weird postures and the loli genocide. I feel like the character creator had potential to be something great, but it was rushed. In fact, I'm getting the sense that the whole game was left 'unfinished' on purpose, as if to make way for a potential DLC. The asymmetric vocation system points to this as well.

I pre-ordered it anyway because I like LARPing as a sorcerer and burning goblins to death.

This is something i noticed to when looking into it. I mean sure they look lifelike and the visuals are impressive to how they can make them look like plenty of male and weird creatures. But the females are lacking, it's only two different styles and if you notice they only show the face they never show the body or anything else. Kind of indicating that it's basically handicapped within, which means i refunded, and i am not getting the game at all due to this decision based on principal for leaving out loli's. If they do leave in DLC for it, i am practically getting the whole thing on a deep discount sell and i will make sure Capcom does not get it at full price and does not deserve that much money for a half finished product. It's time to play the system instead of allowing them to take advantage of the customers like ourselves.

Speaking of which, why would you buy something that is gimped badly? I mean you could wait for a deep discount sell.

I usually hate middle age western fantasy but i did thought DD 1 had more promise than the usual (never made it past 10hrs though). But with this being a Crapcom game, i'm not surprised at all. They have been pushing ESG shit for years and the only saving grace is that their games are genuinely fun to play.

This goes back to at least 2019 for me. Everyone loved DMC5 so the fact they made Trish a hag was conveniently pushed aside every time it came up. You know, the only character with an excuse to look youthful and unchanging forever? Who gives a fck everyone else is getting older, they're all humans or part human. Trish is the only demon in the cast and was created to look a certain way. If she doesn't care about her look why is she still walking around in a corset flashing her tits?

Then you got SF6 with that Hulk looking female and the trans announcer. Monster Hunter Rise got the type 1/2 in character creation and there's something else i don't see anyone brought up. In MHR's expansion Sunbreak, 3/4 of the NPCs in the new base is either black or brown. You know, the DLC to the main game that takes place in a remote Japanese mountain village. So you just travelled a couple miles and now you're in Africa or something? I thought something was off during gameplay because everywhere i go there's a black/brown NPC. I just rolled my eyes but it was so obvious during the final battle cutscenes when everyone in the base came to help. It's like there's a quota and since making 2 of the new cast members black isn't enough, they just filled the whole base with them.

And lastly, the fact that OP and another person in this thread still pre-order from Crapcom kinda make me lost hope here. Not trying to dunk on you guys or anything but haven't you seen enough to make you stop that shit yet? It's not like these games are going anywhere if they turn out to be good, just wait like a week for reviews. If even the people here still fall for this then how much can we expect from the 99% normies?

I would say that DMC5 was a great game in the gameplay department, but the character designs should have been obvious first signs with Lady and Trish like you mentioned. Lady looks off like her face looks nothing like the models in the CG. That is because of Quixel Bridge Face Scans, to make them look more lifelike and supposedly saves time than having their artists do the face for them. Which Capcom has done for almost 20-30 years now. Resident Evil 2 Remake looked slightly off, and Resident Evil 3 was very disappointing in character design, then 4 was the worst of Game Design and Character design as a whole. Something i notice is just how awful the female characters look compared to the males and it really becomes clearly obvious that Gameplay is the bread and butter but it is slowly getting worse with each iteration.

SF6 to me was the breaking point i think for everyone, especially me. Like suddenly there was barely any fanservice, and that last minute edition did not flip anyone over who kept noticing that the characters looked off in the RE:Engine as a whole and animations did not look as good as SFIV, and even worse than SFV.

Also i know you like coming after me indirectly, but if you read my later comment, i did refund the game, and i also understand to wait for more reviewers but in this particular instance i preordered it was Itsuno behind the project and it's a game i really had high hopes for. You would think Capcom would value Itsuno enough to let him do his own thing and there was even hype surrounding it. But i guess when you know it's that bad he can not have any say then Capcom is clearly compromised no matter what angle you look at it from.

I got it for ~$45 from CDKeys. On my Steam region, the game is priced at almost $70, so I thought it was a decent deal.

Valid concern. I don't usually pre-order games; in fact, I virtually never do. But Dragon's Dogma gets a special treatment because it scratches an itch for me that no other game does. It's unique, and there's no alternative for it. Even in spite of all the flaws that I and others mentioned, I have seen enough of its gameplay to know that it's still fundamentally very similar to the first game. It's so similar, in fact, that some have mockingly called it a remaster rather than a sequel, but that is exactly what I wanted.

I'm in the same boat. I know I'm gonna play it as well, so I figured I might as well preorder it so I don't miss out on the bonuses, but I'll also admit that that is fully FOMO and I don't recommend anyone else do that. I do have a policy with preordering though that I will only preorder the day before it gets released and then wait a bit to see what people are saying before I start playing myself. That way if people start saying it's a woke piece of dumpster fire, then I can still get a refund as long as it hasn't been 2 weeks since purchase. If you're going to preorder anyway, then I would recommend that strategy.

There's an obvious disparity between Capcom's female and male characters. Lady is old and wrinkly. Nico is tattooed up, mouthy and bitchy. That could be salvaged but somehow she's unattractive on every level (compare to every single other females when introduced). I mentioned Trish specifically because her case was kinda egregious. She's the only character where if the scan turned out bad they should have touched it up to make her look better afterwards (cuz demon), yet somehow she's looking even worse than the other 2. RE is of course similar. Jill with the sidebuzz cut and skort, Ada with that sweater etc... Yet somehow all the men managed to still be good looking, as if there was no order to uglify them.

I know you refunded but it probably still counts as a preorder to make numbers look better to investors. Capcom is one of the top 3 ESG pusher in Japan gaming space (with SE and Bamco) so anything they release should auto get the highest scrutiny, i think.

I can understand the feeling. I think that does still hurt Capcom. Because they are not getting the purchase at full price, maybe even piracy might be a better way to do this than to purchase honestly. You can play the game but not give money.

Yes it is something I keep noticing a lot with everything. The obvious was RE3R Jill Valentine. I was surprised at how they changed her to look like this actress on Instagram. Its very boring and very safe. Resident Evil 4 was so bad with Ashley she is covered up and even the uncovered version still looks more covered up than usual and it's very obvious she is being used as a marketing ploy to promote the game as an "influencer" through parasocial interaction that is worse than a Vtuber. Trish looking old was very odd to me honestly because i kept wondering if it's some virus in DMCV, Lady's face is very off to me due to her facial structure kind of being off and I think they did not show her stomach.

Unfortunately it does and the thing is I am learning to just pirate the game than to do the FOMO thing. It's better to just do it like that than to enable Capcom to get away with robbery of using franchises to extract money from the fan base. I do think it will come to an end though because more people are noticing and complaining. Even if DRM exists or Capcom prevents Piracy somehow they will be more in trouble as time goes on.

@TheRandomMason @Utic You two better refund the game unless you support this practice. Because look at this GREED you are supporting. 3$ to change sounds, 2$ to have a Character editor, this is just that meme all over again as cut content to resell back to be DLC. Itsuno and Capcom should hang his head in shame.

EDIT: Also who is that steam curator? The fact they called out the height thing makes me want to follow them.
