Katrina has an N1 JLPT and would have the qualifications to work in a much higher paying industry like translating important documents but she chooses to work in the anime/manga translation industry. Imagine having so much disdain and hatred for japanese cartoons, comics and video games that you will be happy to work in a job with a low pay solely so you can butcher and ruin translations. This is a 30-something-year old woman who chose this. It's so hard for me to wrap my head around this.

She is definitely not cut out for more important work like translating documents. Gauging someone's Japanese ability with the JLPT isn't really all too reliable, of course you should be at least N1 but that doesn't even necessarily mean you're fluent. There's also a huge difference between translating simple shit like anime/games and business level Japanese like documents, and considering she can't even do the former right...

And when I say can't do it right I don't even necessarily mean inserting meme shit or "spicing up" the dialogue, I mean straight up misunderstanding the Japanese. Plus she has this huge ego that prevents her from ever improving.

I would say you and Narmy are correct. I know about N2, but this does not mean i should be a main editor for a big time video game, anime unless i have enough of a grasp of what is being said. The fact that Katrina is the one to least likely to improve and label criticism as harassment is embarrassing and as is the localization community when it tries label constructive criticism as anything negative and making excuses to not improve for the better. They remind me way too much of Game Journalists who complain about difficulty and ask for easy mode on every single thing because they do not wish to put in the work and understand the fundamentals and improve. Things should not be lowered to their standards, they must rise to the standards of society itself.

Its funny and telling that she isn't upset about the dub itself, but rather that it'll "give the chuds FUEEEEL" because Jello accidentally said the quiet part out loud.

On the bright side, at least Jello nuked his career pretty quickly and can't ruin anything else.

I think jello nuked it the moment he went woke with that vote vid he made ages ago during the height of the elections a couple years ago.

Katrina has made so many enemies, i would not be surprised that despite the blocklists, despite closing everything off, she still has many emails and phone calls at her expense. Also i can not wait when we transition away from #humantranslator to AI that keeps approaching sooner than we think.

Ironic, people envisioned manual labor blue collar jobs to be occupied by A.I first, yet it's the intellectually dishonest white collar workers who were the first to go.
