We all need a goal to strive for to attain a sense of fulfilment and meaning. These past few years have really kicked our arses, but step by step we can pick ourselves back up. For my New Years' Resolution, my goal is to complete (and publish) a project I've been working on since 2021. It's in the final stages, and I'll be sharing news of it on Varis and elsewhere when it's ready.

Feel free to share yours if you have any.

Jokes aside, I wanna reach a level where I can comfortably play games without having to look up every 5th word I encounter. Something simpler like Pokemon is already doable for me but eventually I also wanna play more demanding games entirely in Japanese without wondering if I understood everything correctly.

Also gotta improve my listening comprehension. Sucks when you hear words you technically know but couldn't remember right away.

Practice makes perfect. For listening comprehension just watch anime without subs, whether you understand it or not. I used Azumanga Daioh at first.

Yeah, that's what I already do for listening practice. It just bothers me that there are often times where I should have known what was being said that only become apparent when I watch the episode again with JP subs.

I'm definitely noticing progress though. Just gotta keep at it I guess.

These past few years have really kicked our arses
It really feels like the past few years were all a dream tbh.

As for me. I have a few things I want to reach this year:
  • Find a new Job (Lost my old one for health reasons)
  • Start / Finish a bunch of dev projects
    • Got asked a while ago to make somebody I know a website and have some personal site ideas I want to develop
    • Finally getting back to gamedev. Been eyeing the GBA in the past few months
    • A Macro-Pad (think StreamDeck, but for 1/5th of the price) and potentially sell some.
  • Pick up a few new skills like playing an instrument and learning to draw
These are honestly just a few of the more concrete ones, but if all goes well this should be easily done.

Hopefully move out from my parents and start living on my own. Maybe get a cat as well.
From experience: Don't rush and carefully pick your place otherwise you might get a place that is broken down, a horrible landlord or a horrible neighbor and all of that for a horrible price. Depending on where you live it's worth it to gun for older buildings (cheaper and larger).

Anyways Happy New Year to you folks! :salute:

I am going to the gym right now, today was my first day and I am really tired, but tomorrow I'll have to go there again. I want to have a body just like Seiko Kodama and for it I need to go to the gym. I am also going to study a lot, dress up better and I will try to be less pessimistic and try to have a better mental health. Also, I am going to get my autism diagnosis.

Hopefully move out from my parents and start living on my own. Maybe get a cat as well.

Same, here in home things are complicated. I hope one day I'll move out to my Grandma's house or try to live on my own.

What is the website about?
  • learning to draw
This awesome, I am somewhat "good" at drawing and I think some tips might help. I think you should consider try to learn how colors work (color theory and color relativity), learn how to simplify human in geometrical shapes and i do recommend when coloring white things or black things don't use pure black or pure white. For white you can use warn colors and for black you can use a very dark gray.
Anyways Happy New Year to you folks! :salute:

I just remembered this thread and want to check how it's going:
Find a new Job (Lost my old one for health reasons)
Got a new job. 1k more a month, extremely secure and I can easily reduce my time down to 60%.

Not gonna lie: I did non of these things so far. I was way more focused on a new Job and getting medical things in order.
Pick up a few new skills like playing an instrument and learning to draw
Also adding this to the previous one. I'm still working on it.

Things I didn't have on the list/my mind at the time:
- I bought two Kittens (Sphinxes).
- Started a YT Channel (first time I made it past single digits. It's tech / gaming realated and evergreen)
- Managed to get rid of a separate medical problem (somehow after thinking about it, it might've been from server stress)

Hey thats pretty great. Certainly more than other people that make resolutions.

What is your yt channel btw?

As for me (honestly I completely forgot I even made a post in this thread:shinobu_kaka:)

Well I did finish my studies.
I guess I do have a better Idea of what I want to do with myself, thought it is still nothing concrete, which honestly works for me.

I honestly don't feel to comfy with sharing it here (at least for now), sorry.

I did too until I remembered yesterday while thinking that I start my new job soon.

Oh for sure. Especially the people that have "go to the gym" as a resolution. They go once and never again until the next year :ohohoh:
