Maybe I'm being too harsh, but Squeenix's Shut It down reaction to that interview where Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii calls out Body Type 1 and 2 bullshit and nerfs to fanservice suggests to me that they're not really planning to course-correct at all, they just want to rebrand their Global Standards censorship and left-liberal propaganda so that less attention is drawn to it.

I mean, if they really were planning to kick the DIE agenda to the curb, wouldn't they enthusiastically embrace somebody of Yuji Horii's stature mocking that garbage?

I would say to wait until the next slate of games. Like all things this was most likely done with Matsuda in charge and when he went full tilt into the whole Global Standards. I think maybe in the next year and a half we should see something from them that will explain a lot. Kiryu has been in only the last 7 months and the reorganization happened 5 months ago. So we probably will not see anything happen until then. It is encouraging though they did pull out now. But if they pull into something new we will know and we will call it out like always.

Nah, you're not being harsh at all. If anything it's strange anyone would look at this and think they're turning shit around. They (inc. Sweet Baby) are scrubbing those things from their websites because it's bad press, that's all. Big companies like SE or Capcom are infested with DEI/ESG shit. The only way for them to clean up this cancer is to fire all the activists (like SE's ethic department) and we haven't heard any of that, haven't we? What we HAVE seen is Crapcom bragging about localization on X and SE deleting that interview. What more do we need to know?

I'm not being blackpilled or anything. The problem is we have people joining this fight a year or 2 ago so they take any kind of change as a sign of victory. Meanwhile people who have seen this shit going on for years have seen it happening again and again yet here we are. Unless we're seeing tons of games like Nier Automata or Stellar Blade releasing i'm not having any expectation for these companies at all.

Matsuda was also the one who was big on the whole MTX thing wasn't he?
Yes. He was heavily pushing into Global Standards when it came to FFXV which started this whole mess, FF7 Trilogy, The Ethics Committee with Sony, DEI/ESG, sold off the Western Studios to Embracer, pushed for Forspoken, embraced NFT's as soon as it came out and was fired 2 months later in favor of Kiryu who was then voted into the President by the board a year later. This is the guy we have to truly thank for all of these bad decisions for the entire decade with Square Enix and are suffering from still with FFXVI, FFXIV with Wuk Lamat, and even the worst decision by far with Dragon's Quest having to follow overseas standards. I am a believer that in the end of 2025/early 2026 though it will be time to see if the changes pay off because it will be nearing next generation of Consoles and Games.
