not sure where else to put it, but my twitter was ghost banned after retweeting some things when #BanTheADL was trending on twitter
i noticed that my impressions were drastically lowered recently, and went to check on my usual shadowban tester
which constantly showed that my account wasn't restricted in any way, despite the fact it very much was being hidden in some way
so i changed it, and found out that i was getting fucked in three different ways by twitter
after removing all my retweets and unlike as many posts speaking related to #BanTheADL, i managed to remove my search ban
and that was about it.
so twitter will actually shadow ban you if you engage with any topic promoting antisemitism, and the ghost ban seems to be something that'll stick around for a while, and i'm unsure if it'll go away, even if i decide to take a break from twitter
so literally, liking and retweeting posts against the ADL can get you shadowbanned lmao
Update 2023/09/2023:
This shadowban is essentially irreversible as far as I'm aware.
Of anything I've ever done on Twitter, from flame wars, an entire 6-hour long scroll through Pippa's tweets, going on long rants about my personal life, and saying rather obscene things, nothing has actually caused a search ban, only a search suggestion ban.
So basically, you can follow, like, retweet, and reply to tweets regarding about almost anything, and Twitter will mainly just hide you from being found with a quality filter.
Even engaging with or discussing any and all tweets related to negatively of the ADL is one of major topics that can cause a complete search ban.
Racism, sexism, family abuse, police brutality, gore, twitter pedophiles, transphobia, grooming cases, animal abuse, honestly about any other controversial topic is essentially at most, from what I can tell, going to result in a search quality ban.
I liked and retweeted
#BanTheADL tweets calling out the fact it all was birthed from a pedophile trying to pin his crime on a black guy that not even the KKK those years ago fell for, with the entire organization built to "protect" his reputation, and I was entirely banned.
I needn't had said anything myself, but only expressed agreement, approval, or acknowledgement with someone else's statement in any way possible, and my entire account was censored.
So whew. That's some textbook information control there that's employed by dictators and malicious actors.
I never trust who actively silence, and I'm the type who's always willing to see if silenced voices have a point.
