I agree that look doesn't fit very well with the themes and they probably could've made it work with some minor changes to the lighting and such, but it's not the worst thing they could've done. Did they make any alterations to the story or the confidants besides the beach scene and what localizersagainstthewall mentioned here?
We may need a side by side video showing the comparisons so everyone can see the changes that were made. Someone can then cover it and show everyone if it's not small stuff.

I think it's a part of me that still likes to believe this is not entirely their fault but with how heavily monetized the answer is with reselling it back as DLC I believe SEGA is really on the wrong track and taking Atlus down with them. Persona 6 I can agree and it leaves me less excited for the future of Atlus. Especially if it becomes Live Service I will be swearing off the series entirely until things change.
On the Yukari Shower scene it may as well have not been animated at all both are bad but one is worse to be a throwaway. The original at least showed some skin, the second shows nothing and you would get better if they showed a static image instead. Atlus is compromised. This fucking sucks.

The only reason why I think this will be a bad few years is because when you mess with the old titles with Live Service instead of a remake of a single player game that everyone knows. You will lose a ton of hardcore support that was built for 30 years almost and with potentially Like A Dragon even Persona being involved SEGA might be crashing a second time in a speed run with Capcom on who can go to bankruptcy. The greed has been getting more and more obvious with these AAA companies and I do think more people will be surprised when these announcements hit that they will drop in support for once huge time. Hardcore audiences are hard to win over and hard to win back while casual audiences just come and go anyways because they just go with what's trendy.
I usually play retro titles today as well even for 3DS with Beyond The Labryinth having a fantl on PC. Thanks for the Thousand Arms recommendation I will look into it.

I was one of the only few people who knew right when SF6 hit that it was the beginning of the end of Capcom's rise. That game series is always a wellness check on how the companies future will be. The art direction was horrible for every character due to the RE:Engines rendering not doing well with anything Anime, it had a undercooked story mode, and honestly had censorship which they then basically had to hurry and undue because the reception of the West was bad. But the damage was done and you can see them just going all in against mods and being out of touch.

VNs use narration to explain what is happening in a scene though. P3P basically just copies over the same dialog from the original game without adding narration to account for the loss of visual feedback. Take the aforementioned beach scene, in the original game the tranny turns around to check his face after Akihiko points out the missed hair, this is completely missed information if you are playing P3P. No narration, no change in expression, nothing. And that's just one example, the entire game is like that.
No doubt, my theory is what happened was SEGA and Atlus literally thought that P3R would have 4-5 million sells week 1 like P5 did(which why does it not surprise me they keep trying to capture this casual audience who only cares about that one game). But when they found out 1.4 million was the best they were going to get, they rushed it out to release. Also something i did notice is in the Gamepass version it's FREE as in it literally installs with P3R and it might have been Atlus/SEGA cutting their losses knowing this would bomb. I know many Atlus fans will gaslight and say "THEY ALWAYS DO THIS" but one thing to keep in mind is an Expansion pack on top of a game 3 months in is brand new and those who bought the Aegis physical collectors edition do not even get access to it, at all either. So imagine you paid 180$ and now you pay 40$ on top or you paid 70$ and now you are paying 110$. It's almost like they are trying to get everyone to pay 110-120$ as a whole just because "Game Costs have been rising". I swear if they try this with Fantazio i will be mad, but i will be waiting after day 1 to see if they do and reviews. I learned too much from DD2 that Japanese AAA's really badly want to become like the Western AAA's in their awful practices.
I don't even have any hopes for fantazio, hte last atlus game i bought happened to be from teh dept heaven games riveria and yggra union the former as a bday gift and the other as one of the games im playing on the psp rn lol.
