The localizers are not in fact gigachads.
This is culture appropriation or even a culture rape. Toriyama did not deserve to die for some Middle Aged White Guy in California with a midlife crisis to spraypaint over his works because he thinks being authentic to the work is being a "Chud". To believe I had this on my Wishlist, and I thought "well certainly Bandai Namco might be compromised in the Western Branch, but they might stay faithful when it comes to the bigger properties" or "Anime Games still keep the designs because of the way deals with Bandai Namco works" which is true, they can not alter designs, but they can mess with the scripts. Which is an unfortunate reality. I would suggest to every Mexican out there to pirate the game if they really would like to play it in America. Because the translation job is not even worth full price let alone 90% off.

Note: I also fear for the Bleach Rebirth Of Sous game and how they will mess that up as well.

A.I. is replacing them, don't worry.
At this rate, it looks like it's full accelerationism ahead for these localizers to get replaced by the A.I. Hopefully there is a fund out there to help move this process quickly. Because seeing them lose their jobs after butchering these games and other Japanese properties it's more than deserved.

I was watching DSP rage quit Black Myth: Wukong when I noticed this weird translation.
不空 got translated as "Non-void", which is a literal translation of the meaning of his name, instead of the pronunciation of it. It's like translating Wukong (悟空) as "See-void", it doesn't make any sense.

Turns out this 不空 guy is also a real life figure from the time period of Journey to the West, so by translating his name like this players are less likely to catch the reference. Just a baffling decision to make, maybe the localizers weren't aware of who he is because he isn't in the book.

Round 5 of Eiyuden Chronicle:
GOxsAyGWEAEO8FE

The English version Rewrote the dialogue to make a very clear pop culture reference, in this case, Terminator 2, while also altering it to be a food pun as a bonus.
GOxsBTSXwAABVhI

GOxsBTTXwAAqmpb

GOxsBXfXUAAYzmZ

GOxsBZhXEAECWx9

A couple of examples where characters in the English version are less respectful to others by using words like "buster", "sucker", "chump" or "smartypants". While Faye is certainly prideful and brags about herself, none of the characters can be considered disrespectful in the original.
GOxsB85WAAAz91R

GOxsB87WgAAvzB9

Lian's "Genki" character archetype in Japanese continues to be changed to one where she likes to crack stupid jokes in English instead.
GOxsCeTWIAAzzhg

GOxsCgAWoAE4jWj

Two instances where characters in the English version add a remark about the species/monsters they talk about not having specific features, like necks or ears, which aren't present in the Original.
GOxsC83WQAAbshj

GOxsC9SWwAAqgLJ

Two examples where the character's lines in Japanese were pretty simple, like Maureus grunting, or Venom cursing after losing a duel, but were edited in the English version anyway.
GOxsDjTXIAAtaaV

While recruiting Maureus he constantly refers to himself as a magic user, but in one sentence in the English version he uses the word "mysticism" instead, which from my understanding is not interchangeable with "magic" in fantasy settings.
GOxsEKPXMAADPVn

Seeing "bonkers" in an "official" translation when the original doesn't even offer a sentence to make it fit sounds kinda unprofessional at best.
GOxsEsqWMAAG9WT

Dr. Corque refers to Nowa and Reid as rivals in Japanese, which doesn't necessarily imply that they're similar to each other as he stated in the English version. The "a pod full of tops" line is also a bit excessive/unnecessary here.

GOxsFO_XgAAAfUu

There's a slight difference in how Nowa reacts after recruiting Larla. In the Original, Nowa doubts if he made the correct decision, while in the English version, he doesn't have any doubts and calls it a mistake.
GOxsFv3WIAA1gD1

This one is a bit finicky to accurately translate into English, because Trey first calls Kurtz naive (甘い), but then uses the same word to describe his cooking. Still, the first phrase about "peeling the world's tiniest onion" could've been translated better than that.
GPkt25IXcAIsc8w

Wayve insults Markus exclusively in the English version, calling him "a walking xylophone".

GPkt6B4XYAAYL42

Context: Nowa asks soldiers about recent dragon sightings. One of the soldiers fumbles over the name of the location where the dragon was spotted (Eldroad in the English version) and then adds a remark that he hates geography.
GPkt73rWMAAYuax

Wanting to help =/= Should Help. The Original uses たい suffix to describe desire.
GPkt9ItXcAAwMpe

Pohl appears to be too full of himself in the English version with the "Pohl's a genius" line.
GPkt-GrWoAAx6b8

By listening to the English VA, I presume the reason the Chairman says "borscht"' in the English version, is that localizers wanted him to say something that sounds very close to "bullshit"
GPkt_KlW4AA3cfU

GPkt_T_XoAEQ1VS

Durlan's remark about alcohol and out-performing youngsters has been moved speech bubbles, which is fine. But in the Original, there was nothing that could be interpreted as Durlan rhyming, or even being poetic.
GPkuAXiWoAARW12

GPkuAfJW4AAR2yW

GPkuAfPXkAAbyi3

GPkuAy4XsAATeRy

GPkuB2XXoAAv-12

GPkuB3fWYAEpQgN

GPkuB_eWEAIpZeB

A couple of examples where characters in the English version add extra remarks or use questionable idioms, like the "big cheese".
Extra: Voice direction blunders

View attachment 18950
Not a translation inaccuracy, but Nowa's English VA sounds way less enthusiastic, almost even annoyed about meeting Martha after being away for 6 months. You can even hear him sigh.

View attachment 18951
Nowa knows that his sister and the Imperials are in Runebarrows and that Leene might be in danger. In the Original, you can hear in Nowa's voice that he is worried about her, but in the English version, Nowa seems unfazed by this predicament.

GN-k680WMAAGlBp

You can hear anger in Hakugin's voice in the English version as she meets Mio at Daphan Village, while she's supposed to be working as a militia. In Japanese not only is she calm, but the "the hell are you doin' here" is absent. She was just sharing what she heard about Mio.

One line of one of the soldiers is spoken by the wrong English VA. 1st and 3rd lines are said by "Soldier 1", but in English, the 1st line is said in a male voice, while 3rd one is in a female voice. And yes, English localization changed "Soldier 2" to be a female for some reason. This is a mixing mistake that the voice director missed or didn't check.
Round 6 of Eiyuden Chronicle
GPkuB2XXoAAv-12

Conversations between CJ and Garoo have been changed in the English version. The "toilet trained" is a gag that goes back to EC: Rising, but in the Japanese version Garoo was simply calling CJ a kid who still wears diapers.
GXETZ_TWAAA5nLV

GXETZ_MWYAAG2wF

GXETaDfXEAAwlkR

GXETZ_wW0AAWR__

Dijkstra's manner of speech is distinctively different in the English version.
GXETaw4XkAAz7oM

GXETa1AWgAAmdvw

GXETa3YXUAE--ku

GXETa7gW0AE-BFr

Continuation of Dijkstra's examples, on a side note, the town's name in the original is トゥーノーズ, which reads as Twonose instead of Twinhorne.
GXETbjNWMAA3A9X

GXETblNXwAA_Ut6

GXETbmaWkAAMA65

GXETbrcWMAE4WgT

Context: Lian was about to shout in the mountains to let Seign know that they were ready. English version changed it to Lian trying to yodel instead.
GXETcUYXAAAJc0V

Conversation between the trio on the night before the big battle. Nowa and Mio make fun of Lian for being childish with how easily excited she gets. In the English version, they start to talk about webs instead.
GXETc9uWUAAvWRZ

Inaccuracies from the Beigoma side quest
GXETdk3XgAAqBmU

GXETdmjWsAAx91-

GXETdmpWMAA5BfB

Wayve refers to Iris as "lovely" (麗し) in the original. In the English version, he calls her "luscious" instead, which changes the tone of the sentence to a more sexual one.
GXETeLBXgAEJpWg

Some more idioms/sentences that don't match the Original dialogue
GXETewlWAAAxhkj

A bit off-topic I guess since one doesn't talk much about faithful translations. While rarer than they should be, they do eventually pop up from time to time, not sure if this is good news for localizers' stans since they claim it's not a feasible thing:

I think the main problem Localizers do not realize is that back in the day there was incompetent localizers that tried and did what they could to make things work. They did resort to memes due to not understanding much of anything. But ever since Fire Emblem Fates, TMS it has highlighted an issue of Localizers gaining more control and messing things up and knowing full well with what they are doing to games with censorship and altering the content. It has been obvious in recent years due to how bad the content is nowadays.
