If you know japanese you can completely see cogs of how all of this works, the same people the same groups the same tactics. Unrelated to consumers people (unsurprisingly from the same group) from lawyers, activists, politcians, big feminist icons etc (theres even some good old tactic and pretending to be fans) all smelling blood in the water getting tens of thousands of likes (just a couple of years ago getting this much cancel culture traction related to anime/manga/games wasnt a thing on japanese twitter) and now news media (huffpost same old same old) writing articles taking those posts as "reactions from experts and normal people" and pressuring KT for answers. Cba bothering to link any of it because I am just tired and doompilled of this shit, and theres just too many because all the scum decided to concentrate pressure on it, if you know japanese its much easier to look up the japanese sjw side. Can you explain the Sophie Figure controversy for those of us who do not collect figures so we can understand what is going on? I will also comment on top of it and give my opinions as well.

You are right though, we are at this stage because more often than not, cowards apologize and get cancelled. Western social media might paint this as some non issue since its everyday commonplace thing in english speaking twitter (look at the state of western gaming) but for jp I think this impacts creators and makes them self-censor. Its like an attack from both sides, western sjw branch pressuring from one side and now even "people" from their own country are pressuring. Looking at it this way, unrelated to KT, but its hardly surprising that Manya (from a franchise heavily reliant on japanese fanbase) of all characters suddenly got censored. It adds up and apparently devs and creators are just as stupid.

I would say this is routine and not abnormal. This happens every year and people just have a memory of a dog when it comes to these things. Feminists in Japan yearly will always talk and screech, the media there they control will make a big deal out of nothing. What ends up happening is Feminists always have one or two victories per year either an Anime get's cancelled or a Figurine get's messed with and maybe an approval of a BL/Yaoi thing and that is it. It's no different than the yearly looking into Lolicon law and then nothing comes of it because they need unanimous votes.
