Any 80's & 90's anime recommendations?

I've recently found a Gunsmith Cats clip on YouTube and with that the series got my attention. The art style also gave me some OG YuGiOh nostalgia & since I am also an 80's, 90's fag and believe that all niche hobbies like games, weeb stuff and the net were better back then. Aside from the OVA I also found a torrent with translated manga.

Now I am in a mood for some stuff from the era that I wasn't able to experience. I already am planning to watch:
  • Serial Experiments Lain (1998)
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995)
I'm a sucker for some underground criminal & assassin stuff, but I also don't mind other stuff as long as it's enterntaining & interesting.

Any good recommendations would really be appreciated.

Some of my favorites while growing up were:

Ranma 1/2
Oh My Goddess!
Yu Yu Hakusho
Tenchi Muyo!
The Slayers
Grave of the Fireflies
Escaflowne
Perfect Blue

This is a wide range of shows, but I don't believe they fit into what you're looking for.

A couple others that I don't remember well, but ate from that era:

Spriggan
Patlabor movies (there's tv shows too)
If I think of anymore, I'll post them.

well, I have seen very few anime from those times, I was looking and I really did not find almost anything

Sakura Tsuushin
this is one that I watched a while ago, when it occurred to me to see all Shaft studios anime
I have my doubts whether to recommend it or not :hibiki-chew:

Perfect Blue
this movie is a masterpiece:cultured:

Great Teacher Onizuka
I don't know why but I fell in love with this series completely when I watched it.
I expected it to be very bad and that all those chapters were boring, but I ended up finding a series that could easily be among my favorites and when it finished I wanted there to be more episodes.

FLCL
I know it's from the year 2000, but is very funny and curious, it has 2 new series that, if I remember correctly, they came out in 2017 that although they are fun they were not up to par for me.
I think this thread will work for me too hahaha

One of the main things that come to mind when I think about 80s & 90s anime is the violence in them was a lot more brutal. I haven't seen many pre-00s shows but the violent & gory shows i remember off the top of my head are

Violence Jack, Angel Cop, Urotsukidouji, Genocyber, Fist of the North Star and (the most obvious one) Berserk. I guess even akira might count but i don't remember it that well

There was still a couple shows with brutal violence in the 00's. Elfen Lied and Mnemosyne come to mind.

From what i remember it went out of style due to violent shows not selling well in Japan.

I've always heard TV regulations got in the way of a lot of violence potential on television over in Japan; the death of the OVA market and the rise of the late-night slot probably contributed to anime toning itself down. Anyways:
Kite (1998)
Key: The Metal Idol (1994)
Megazone 23 (1985)
Hades Project Zeorymer (1988)
Iczer-1 (1985)

Are all less obvious ones of fluctuating quality that I've enjoyed. Also nobody recommended Cardcaptor Sakura? Are you people even lolicons?
