Would you happen to know how the game handles the gendered words for the Spanish (and any other gendered language really) texts? I took a look and seems to be a kind of special character(s)? I'm talking stuff like...Lumera calls you her "hijo" o "hija" depending on your Alear's gender, or the more simple stuff like "los dos" / "las dos", etc.

I was trying to edit the Anna S-support for EUES but I just botched it and ended up using gender neutral worlds like "compis" instead of the actual translation that is "socios" / "socias" so I'm stuck lol.

Thanks for the patch.
I usually dont mind localization choices because even at its worst, say in Fates they couldnt mess up with romance because sex was very important in Fates and they couldnt remove the lolis.
But then in the DLC you have a hag like Zelestia who should have no issues and they freaking familyzone us.
So I am waiting for the DLC patch. Do not see qn spreadsheet on the OP. Can anyone tell me if the retranslation is underway?

Ahhh yes, the game have a few "scripted" special characters like for example:

This one may seem to be the one you want.

This one is for MC's name

And then a few files just use 2 different entries with the same name but with a F (for female) added at the end:

But if you are using the EUES files, they should already use these special characters (specially in Spanish), no?
Or are you asking how to use them?

Other people can explain it better than me but Fates got REALLY bad with a lot of lines, minigames, outfits, dlcs, etc... deleted from western versions, thankfully Nintendo only does 1 version worldwide now, so localization can't fuck with the games at that level anymore.

Yeah it can, it just does it in development now. Having an untainted Japanese version and a butchered western version is far better than having one watered down version for all regions.

I just remembered that NOA themselves published that they started to censor in development, so yeah you're completely right.

I don't know about Engage but as for as I know this doesn't apply but 3H had Tree House working as advisors during it's development to "tone down" certain things. The sauna mini-game was originally a supposed to be a pool with swimsuits but Tree House step in and had it changed. On top of those changes made during development there is also the localization changes, most of which happen during the pre-time skip dialogue

I am blind lol.
Anyways I played the Fates TL patch for the japanese version and Camilla and Selena's S supports were massacred. Removing how Camilla wants to be more than a sister or Selena troubled because she gives up on returning for Corrin.
Look forward to the next patch.

Is there any listing of which parts got meaningfully changed? I'm still early game so I haven't seen much, but the first few supports I've seen nothing really different between this and the localization. Given that I don't have a modded Switch, it's quite a bit of work pulling up a support just to see it being the same, so it'd be nice to know which ones were messed up before hand

When it's done™ XD, no but seriously the patch is not going to cover everything and the only thing left from the base game planned to be covered are the emblem supports, so i recommend you to start playing the game already and like i always say, you can check the spreadsheet and the patch notes to see what's already done or planned.

Yeah Three Houses also got censored in a few places (the ones i remember right now are the sauna and some Bernadetta lines that were censored in an update, but there are more).

Other FE games like Three Houses use a different engine which makes modding difficult, Engage uses Unity which is one of the easiest for modding due to all the tools already out there and the amazing modding support from emulators/CFW, maybe if the next FE game uses Unity again then the same tools will work yeah. I didn't make any tools or anything like that.
