Because to them, Japanese culture is inferior to western culture.

But I noticed a pattern with westerners, westerners always prefer realism over anything stylized, to the westerner it always has to "reflect real life" regardless what it is.
What do I mean, they treat fictional characters as real people and demand it conform to realism even if it's meant to be fictional like anime so to them a loli has to be a "child" because they can't comprehend it being anything else and any none of these sub-humans have a problem with ugly female characters because it "reflects the real world".

Japanese culture and overall Asian culture doesn't promote the "realistic" but the "ideal", such as in my home country, ads, promotional material etc still has attractive females everywhere because that's what the majority wants to see.
