Yeah, I figured it was meant to be the dragon since that is technically who we are fighting in the first phase. Still, why'd they decide to go with that if it's not present in the original?

The Souls games seem to be riddled with bad translations.

Still, Namco Bandai hasn't fixed the problems in Elden Ring, Kinda makes you wonder if their strategy guides include the same mistranslation as the game.

I thought at least the Souls series was safe from this but I guess incompetent people are everywhere. Still, it doesn't seem as bad as the usual lolcowlizer antics.

Netflix subs for jojo part 6 translated lolicon as pedophile the subtitles read "Even a Pedophile who kidnapped children ridiculed me." while the dub uses "degenerate who abducted kids and did unspeakable things to them." My guess is the original line read more like the dub than sub, and also while the Japanese doesn't use pronouns(I think) for Foo Fighters, the subtitles uses they to describe them (I use they as well since the character is literally Genderless.) but they're really shoving they everywhere it's kind of annoying.

Fixing Ranni's story is clearly too much work for them, and I wouldn't put it passed the lolcowizers to be vehemently against fixing it since it would make Ranni a good person. Ranni is too good looking to be a good person, it makes the trannie lolcowizers furious that she's not completely evil.

They don't care, every single souls game has had shitty translations. They've fixed very few of them and even the fixes were lazy.

My best guess is because the lines are voiced, and they don't want to pay the VA any more.

That would be spot on, but does show how disgusting Bandai Namco are as a whole. The game made more than enough money to do the voices over again a couple of times. From Software games will eventually also fall under the generic copy pasted genre anyway. 2 weeks after the game released they nerfed Radahn.

It doesnt paint a great picture of bamco at all.
It makes me think back to the rumours that Miyazaki was disatisfied with the publisher not letting him continue the dark souls storyline

Trails series was always having pretty screewy localization. XSEED was just loved by people too much justifying their questionable translation.

I think light memes like this are fine instead of heavy-handed made-up political bs that Squeenix loves to shove into their games. I still got bad aftertaste from Chrono Cross remastered fiasco.

its ads up over time. A little meme here, a little topical joke there, and suddenely half the script is a meme festered mess. Look if somewhere one random NPC makes a meme joke, because in Japanese only thing this NPC said was "Hello there", no big deal, but lolcalizers demonstrated that they don't have restrains many times. And will buther the entire script.

If the original script didn't have any jokes then I don't want jokes in the translated one.
I don't care if the original script is the mind numbly boring, I want it to remain that way when translated.
If you want to add "jokes" or "improve" the original then go write your own story instead of vandalizing someone else's.

Right. If the script calls for a joke then they can add them. They shouldn't add them out of thin air.
