Torrent then run through a shell wrapper to remember the episode/time I stopped watching something.

I just watched Full Metal Alchemist. Amazing! However, I found difficult in covid to watch favorite anime as i searched for multiple streaming sites. After a bit of struggle i found that Animelab and Funimation are some good options. WCO, and a couple of other good streaming sites mentioned here https://www.reviewsed.com/best-anime-streaming-sites/ . A few countries such as Australia banned a whole lot of streaming sites a while ago, but VPN is then the better option for people living in such countries.

As for legal sites, sometimes Netflix.

I won't pay for streaming services, as sites like Animelab provide better services and more access to shows.

I browse ibs in search of recommends, when I find something I like I stream it until I find out it's good, if it is I torrent it and watch via VLC while chilling in my /comfy/ chair.

>not downloading every show that even relatively piques your interest

Agreed, content belongs to the people, not that im a commie.
The more viewers and revenue they have, the more likely they are to curate what is made and what gets watched. I don't want to live in a miserable dead future when all they make is derivatives of High Guardian Spice.

Yes, stagnation is worse than death.
