While I generally agree with the notion that it's fucking retarded to censor fanservice in a fanservice game (or anything really) I can also understand wanting to support them now. They might even realize "Hey, we made the translations more accurate and now more people are buying it, maybe we should keep being faithful to the source material", which is our goal after all. And if more companies come to the same realization all the better. And at least the censorship is not something imposed on us by the localization team, even if that does mean that you can't go to the source material to avoid it.

But regardless of whether you want to support it now or not, at least they listened. Now people only have to deal with the stupid censorship that everyone gets instead of the censorship + the retarded localization on top of it all. Definitely a good sign.

They listened because people complained. If people give up and support them now then there is no reason for them to listen further.

Why do you think SJWs have so much influence? They are relentless and continue to complain until they get exactly what they want. If we want to stand a chance against their influence we have to be just as relentless.

The question right now is if they will address the censorship. I personally doubt it, and they've just shown this little action to pretend to care, or else they'd done their job well from the start on the localization side. On this front, it would have also been smart for the publisher to comment directly at the start on the points raised instead of the silent treatment what most self-absorbed publishers do.

These SJW get away with it because the localizer or translator is mostly one of those nutjobs that gets free rein for the most part when butchering a Japanese product. Japanese publishers have already shown that they care little about how badly butchered their western releases are.

I mean yeah, fair point. Just because the censorship is from the source itself it doesn't mean that it's okay or anything. I'm just saying that I can understand people wanting to support faithful localization when it actually happens, since something like this is rather rare. Especially going back on something and fixing it. Most of these cunts' egos would never allow that.

It's a shame because it's full of Japanese mythology and I enjoy that a lot.

Found some censorship while playing Chrono Trigger in Japanese.
20221223_145030.jpg

The localized version is:
Ayla: Ayla know about
leaving nest!
Time pass, grow big, leave nest!

Ayla leave nest!
Dactyl leave nest too.
Marle leave too?
Big change!

Ayla: Leave nest!
Have baby!
Baby grow big!
Leave nest too!

Ayla: Sure you ready leave nest?
Not too big yet.

And the censorship is in the last two parts, a more accurate rendition would be:
Ayla: Leave nest!
Sleep! (maybe a euphemism for sex?)
Have baby!
Give boob! (おっぱいをあげる is an expression that means to breastfeed, but for Ayla this literal meaning sounds more accurate)
Leave nest too!

Ayla: Will you be okay?
No boob.

Here is an often overlooked one in pokemon
Screenshot_20221226_140236.jpg

That nob guy who did the pokemon localizations up to gen 5 didnt know the difference between the words "faint" and "feint" in the move feint attack and the move remained incorrect until he left
The extra kickers are that sneak atrack would work fine and not make him look like a dumbass there is a move called feint that is spelled correctly and the correct word was always used in the pokemon trading card game
A little thing to keep in your pocket next time he feels like being a diva on twitter and whinge about the translation taliban
