Round 2 of Netflix vs AI-kun, this time the original script is also present as well, this is Ranma episode 3 by the way. Prompts used:Since Netflix provides Japanese subs as well, someone translated the Japanese script and provided an alternative track using Claude AI to translate the entire Ranma 1/2 episode 1. The results surprised me a bit because the subs are surprisingly usable.
Beware that these subs are not without flaws. There is a bit of inaccuracy in them, some lines could be written better, but these things could be corrected quickly with an editor who knows Japanese. Prompts used:

Note: Because the first episode has a twist about a boy transformed into a girl. It got the context right without telling it in the prompt, so it's even more surprising how good LLMs already are.

you have to remember that the lolcowliezer is most likely a "body positivity" and/or fatty who hates any mention of sex appeal, being responsible for your own body health, or female femininity. So words like pure, lovely, healthy, beautiful, sexy, zero sex appeal, etc. has to be removed from the script as much as possible.

Also from what I noticed is they seem to like to use slang or add more to what should be simple things to translate. The AI is very clever and it does come up with things that make it feel way more professional and authentic. It's odd that they hate AI for this reason, but I end up liking that because sometimes being closer to the language and meaning is better than trying to add things and dilute it with what is not there to begin with.

I do think this is the case and also it most likely is due to greed and power. That they wish to control what others see and do not see rather than translating what is said. I mean for example who really uses "Plain Jane" in real life or even amongst friend groups? Nobody. But there is good examples of people saying not sexy, unsexy or lacks sex appeal. It's very much watered down language or trying to write around things that they internally hate.
That and if you notice in the localizations they always make women seem like they are barbaric violent women embodying the most negative aspects of men or even worse are men inserting themselves as woman. Which would not surprise me if there is Trans thinking every single Gender-Bender character or Trap is themselves and end up making Women sound like Men. Rather than writing tough women or soft ladies. They really just do not like women or respect them. It's plainly obvious and funny that AI has much more respect for Gender and the Japanese writing than localizers do.

I stopped joining online "communities" entirely since around 4 years ago. It feels like wherever I go, it's full of teens with their brainrot niggerspeak and skull emojis, who all feel like they're the same person, and even mentioning something that goes against the server's general direction will get you crucified. Lately I'm feeling this way about the EN-speaking side of the internet in general, except here and a couple other places. Perhaps it's time for me to try joining a community IRL instead, lol.
Honestly that's the issue of our time. Most kids just use Ebonics and think they are edgy or cool when most people north of 25 years old wish to not associate with them because it's dishonest and they like safe-horny down to safe edgy which makes them boring. It's a breakdown of Western Culture and Entertainment. Add in the fact they are more terminally online than any of us could ever be because they do not talk to people in real life and are too busy on social media. It's an oversaturation of fake fans who chase popularity than actually like the content.
I am also in places where everyone is 25 above or at least 24 years old. It's better to be with people who are older and past trying to be cool, defending mediocrity because somehow it hurts the ego because they are attached to IP's to see the problem, or fitting in. Because as you get older you just enjoy life and say what you feel because it's normal not everyone is going to agree with everything here and it's healthy to have back and fourth discussions anyways.
