Boy do I love localizations!
Round 2 of Netflix vs AI-kun, this time the original script is also present as well, this is Ranma episode 3 by the way. Prompts used:Since Netflix provides Japanese subs as well, someone translated the Japanese script and provided an alternative track using Claude AI to translate the entire Ranma 1/2 episode 1. The results surprised me a bit because the subs are surprisingly usable.
Beware that these subs are not without flaws. There is a bit of inaccuracy in them, some lines could be written better, but these things could be corrected quickly with an editor who knows Japanese. Prompts used:32.7 KB file on MEGA

Note: Because the first episode has a twist about a boy transformed into a girl. It got the context right without telling it in the prompt, so it's even more surprising how good LLMs already are.

Netflix <=> AI-kun
you have to remember that the lolcowliezer is most likely a "body positivity" and/or fatty who hates any mention of sex appeal, being responsible for your own body health, or female femininity. So words like pure, lovely, healthy, beautiful, sexy, zero sex appeal, etc. has to be removed from the script as much as possible. Some things done in the Netflix translation are just completely incomprehensible to me.
Yeah. He did background ambient tracks for Persona 1 on PS1.One of them died of a car crash one of the older composers maybe it was for the best b4 they witnessed what happened today.
Also from what I noticed is they seem to like to use slang or add more to what should be simple things to translate. The AI is very clever and it does come up with things that make it feel way more professional and authentic. It's odd that they hate AI for this reason, but I end up liking that because sometimes being closer to the language and meaning is better than trying to add things and dilute it with what is not there to begin with.you have to remember that the lolcowliezer is most likely a "body positivity" and/or fatty who hates any mention of sex appeal, being responsible for your own body, or female femininity like pure, lovely, healthy, beautiful, sexy, or zero sex appeal. They hate AI specifically because it gets in the way of them ruining the script and leaving the watchers with little to no alternative. Also from what I noticed is they seem to like to use slang or add more to what should be simple things to translate. because they also hate prim and proper woman or formal/polite speech. the concept of Yamato Nadeshiko is the embodiment of what they hateAlso from what I noticed is they seem to like to use slang or add more to what should be simple things to translate
we already knew we were better off by just using AI but honestly after these posts i can confidently say, holy shit it's better than i expectedRound 2 of Netflix vs AI-kun, this time the original script is also present as well, this is Ranma episode 3 by the way. Prompts used:
Netflix (Red) <> AI-kun (Black)Ranma 1/2 AI Prompt - Pastebin.com
Pastebin.com is the number one paste tool since 2002. Pastebin is a website where you can store text online for a set period of time.pastebin.com
The original text is located below both.
Some notes:
- In subsequent images, I will not only compare the text itself but also the style of how the characters refer to each other and how they express their emotions. Pay attention to the subtle differences, which are important for maintaining the character's personality.
- While AI hasn't always chosen its words perfectly, I believe it often performs better than what's shown on Netflix. However, in certain instances, a minor correction by a human could be helpful.
- There are two important points to consider. First, AI only understands what is presented in the text and relies on the context from prior episodes. In theory, this gives the human translator an advantage, as they can perceive the emotions of the characters through visual and auditory cues. However, as you will see below, this advantage doesn't always translate to better outcomes.
- Some things done in the Netflix translation are just completely incomprehensible to me.
I do think this is the case and also it most likely is due to greed and power. That they wish to control what others see and do not see rather than translating what is said. I mean for example who really uses "Plain Jane" in real life or even amongst friend groups? Nobody. But there is good examples of people saying not sexy, unsexy or lacks sex appeal. It's very much watered down language or trying to write around things that they internally hate. They hate AI specifically because it gets in the way of them ruining the script and leaving the watchers with little to no alternative.
That and if you notice in the localizations they always make women seem like they are barbaric violent women embodying the most negative aspects of men or even worse are men inserting themselves as woman. Which would not surprise me if there is Trans thinking every single Gender-Bender character or Trap is themselves and end up making Women sound like Men. Rather than writing tough women or soft ladies. They really just do not like women or respect them. It's plainly obvious and funny that AI has much more respect for Gender and the Japanese writing than localizers do.because they also hate prim and proper woman or formal language. the concept of Yamato Nadeshiko is the embodiment of what they hate
Found it.Also I found this just today from somewhere. This is obviously from Dandadan.
Normal Translation from Scan translators.

This is from the Shonen Jump App.

Hopefully someone can provide the Japanese version but the Shonen Jump App is awful by comparison Age Ratings due to Google Play and bad Localizers really ruin these works. Looking around at the company behind this I now know why.

Viz Media is like a modern 4kids at times. Do not forget Vampire and Rosario because that was heavily censored to where actual manga panels were taken out compared to the Scan Translated versions. That was also by Viz Media.
If you tolerate a little censorship then you are creating the conditions for more censorship.I can handle the changes to Linn
I am tired of the West not getting feature parity of fanservice as Japan and also the Westeen Branches having control and making everyone else as miserable as they are.So the Switch Version of Xenoblade Chronicles X is based off the Western Release.

I can handle the changes to Linn to get the rest of the public to STFU but I don't want to lose the Bust Slider as well as the JP Costumes for fashion gear.
Yeah. At this point I am just coping. I know how lost this entire industry is.If you tolerate a little censorship then you are creating the conditions for more censorship.
I stopped joining online "communities" entirely since around 4 years ago. It feels like wherever I go, it's full of teens with their brainrot niggerspeak and skull emojis, who all feel like they're the same person, and even mentioning something that goes against the server's general direction will get you crucified. Lately I'm feeling this way about the EN-speaking side of the internet in general, except here and a couple other places. Perhaps it's time for me to try joining a community IRL instead, lol.Yeah. Honestly,I may just cut off some friends from my life due to how he pissed me off of late. Ask PhantomXero here about the last group I was a part of till lately.
Honestly that's the issue of our time. Most kids just use Ebonics and think they are edgy or cool when most people north of 25 years old wish to not associate with them because it's dishonest and they like safe-horny down to safe edgy which makes them boring. It's a breakdown of Western Culture and Entertainment. Add in the fact they are more terminally online than any of us could ever be because they do not talk to people in real life and are too busy on social media. It's an oversaturation of fake fans who chase popularity than actually like the content.I stopped joining online "communities" entirely since around 4 years ago.
